Where will your clinic be located?

Before you buy or ask others to donate supplies, you will need a location for your clinic.  Here are some key factors to consider before you ask a person or group to borrow some of their space.
  • Is the location convienent to the homeless community?  Can it be easily accessed by public transit or by foot?
  • Will the location be available to you, no matter what, on a consistent basis?  You don't want to ask a homeless person with damaged feet to walk to your clinic next Wednesday for more treatment, unless you know for sure that the place will be open.
  • Does the location have a sink (for making foot baths and cleaning tools) and bathroom (hey, nature calls) nearby?

Once you have the perfect location picked out, go speak to the person in charge and politely ask for a small amount of space to set up your clinic.

You will only need room for 4-6 chairs for the clinic and an area (possibly a hallway or other space) for those guests who are waiting their turn.  You may be pleasantly surprised at how graciously someone may offer you space.

Churches, especially ones who already work with the homeless, are likely to be receptive.

Homeless Shelters are also a good bet.  Plus, they will automatically have people for you to work on. :-)
